Aircon Gas To Up

Hot weather can cause discomfort and affect people’s mood. In Malaysia’s tropical climate, gas top-up for air conditioning is a necessary task to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature. Gas refills usually involve fixing unsealed leakages, which requires an inspection of the air conditioning unit to identify potential areas of leakage.

After inspection, the next step is to reseal any leaks found, followed by topping up the gas to restore the unit’s optimal performance. HVAC technicians may advise you on various factors that can lead to an aircon gas top-up, such as the use of low-quality copper and incorrect installation procedures.

Scope of Work

The term Aircon Gas Top-up is commonly used in Malaysia, but not everyone is familiar with it. Typically, top-ups occur after routine maintenance tasks on your air conditioner. There are two types of refrigerants used in Singapore, R22 and R40, with R22 mainly used for older units and R40 for newer ones.

The technician will determine which refrigerant to use based on the type of air conditioner you have. If you have leaky pipes or a gas leak in your unit, it can cause a lack of refrigerant, which will cause your air conditioner to work harder to cool your home. If you notice that your house is suddenly warm despite the air conditioner working, it may be an indication that the refrigerant gas has run out.

How Does It Work?

The refrigerant plays a crucial role in absorbing and eliminating heat from your house. After absorbing the heat, it carries it away from the affected room and expels it outside.

The compressor is another essential component of your air conditioning unit. It compresses the refrigerant, causing it to condense and flow through the condenser, which removes any heat from the surrounding air.

Next, the refrigerant moves through the expansion valve, where it expands and evaporates, further cooling it down. The cool refrigerant then returns to the evaporator unit, where it cools down the warm air before being blown back into your residence.

This conditioned air helps to keep you cool during hot days, making the refrigerant and compressor vital components of your air conditioning system.
